Safety Guide
Protect yourself and rent with confidence.
Golden Rule
Never pay any money before seeing the property in person. This is the most important safety rule when renting. Legitimate landlords will always allow a viewing before any payment is made.
Red Flags to Watch For
- Landlord refuses to show the property before payment
- Price is significantly lower than similar properties in the area
- Landlord claims to be abroad and asks for a deposit to be sent
- Pressure to pay quickly before "someone else takes it"
- Photos that look professionally stock or lifted from another website
- Requests for payment via informal channels (cash app, foreign transfer)
Safe Practices
- Always visit the property before agreeing to rent
- Verify the landlord's identity matches any ID or documents they provide
- Use a written lease agreement - never just a verbal agreement
- Keep records of all communication through the Godoo messaging system
- Research comparable rental prices in the area before agreeing to a price
Verified Listings
Listings from ID-verified landlords carry a verification badge. Verified landlords have submitted government-issued identification for review. While we encourage verification, it does not guarantee the accuracy of every listing detail.
